As per mythology, Lord Vishnu is the best of all the Purusas, the Ganga is the best of the rivers, Kasyapa among the Munis, Uchchaishrava amongst the horse, Maha Deva amongst the devas, Bhagwati amongst the devis, so the Rudraksha rosary is the best of all the rosaries. In Puranas, the arrangement or the combination of beads in the Mala has been articulately mentioned and many of procedures, jaap, manifestation and affirmations of all the rosaries are exactly followed as per these Puranas. The epics mentioned that the combination of like beads in a rosary should be strung in such a way that the mouth of the one bead should be directed to the mouth of another bead and tail of one bead face tail of another. If all the beads are directed towards only one direction, the energy level flowing from the beads will get into only one direction whereas if it is arranged in a face to face direction (mouth to mouth and tail to tail), then there will be harmonic convergence between positive and negative energies. It is therefore a vital point to follow this principle for the balanced level of energy.
