As we dive deeper into the rich history of Everest Beads, we uncover the legacy of a family deeply devoted to Lord Shiva. With the grace of Mahadev, this family has been blessed to serve the devotees of Shiva through the sacred Rudraksha beads. Over four generations, the Gharti Chettri family has upheld this tradition, ensuring that the divine power of Nepali Rudraksha reaches devotees far away.
First Generation: The Beginning( 1915- 1999)
The legacy of Everest Beads began over a century ago with the birth of Shree Tilak Bahadur Gharti Chettri in 1915 AD, in the modest village of Dingla, Bhojpur. Surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, Tilak Ji grew up with a deep devotion to Lord Shiva.
He was one of the fortunate and chosen few who had the opportunity to share the grace of Mahadev with others through the Nepali Rudraksha. In those days, Rudraksha was not seen as a commercial item. It was considered a divine blessing that was never exchanged for money.
Tilak Ji, a devout follower of Lord Shiva, distributed Rudraksha to sadhus, rishis, and sages who traveled long distances to gather the finest beads. His daily routine included performing Shiva puja at home, honoring the divine power of the Rudraksha.
He firmly believed in the spiritual power of these beads saying, “Men who wear the Rudraksha with faith and meditate upon its power are freed from all impurities and walk the path toward the ultimate truth of existence.” His profound belief in the power of Rudraksha shaped the foundation of the Everest Beads tradition.
Our Ancient Mahadev Temple:
The Rudrakshasheswor Mahadev temple in Dingla is one of the oldest and most revered spiritual temple in Dingla, Bhojpur. The temple was built more than 80 years ago around 2000 AD, which has been preserved and maintained by the Gharti Chettri family and the local community. The temple was built in memory of Shree late Tilak Bahadur Ji, as he was a devout follower of Lord Shiva.
According to locals, the Rudrakshasheswor Mahadev Temple holds a mystical connection to Lord Shiva himself. Many believe that Lord Shiva once visited this holy place and stayed here, filling the temple and its surroundings with his divine presence. What makes the temple truly special is that it is surrounded by beautiful Rudraksha trees, which are seen as a natural offering to Lord Shiva.
The Gharti Chettri family, the caretakers of this legacy, come daily to honor Mahadev through prayers and rituals. The bond between the temple, the Rudraksha trees, and Lord Shiva shows the perfect balance between nature and spirituality, attracting pilgrims and visitors from all around.
For many generations, the temple has been a sacred place where people find peace and connect with Lord Shiva. It has inspired faith and devotion in everyone who visits, offering them blessings and a sense of spiritual comfort.
Second Generation: The Legacy Continues(1944- 2015)
The legacy was carried forward by Tilak Ji's son, Bom Bahadur Gharti Chettri, who inherited his father’s devotion and dedication to sharing the power of Rudraksha. Born in 1944, he grew up surrounded by his father's rituals and spiritual practices.
He continued the tradition of offering Nepali Rudraksha, making sure that anyone seeking Lord Shiva’s blessings never left empty-handed.
During his time, the world was changing, and people began to see Rudraksha differently. However, the Gharti family remained committed to their values, ensuring that Rudraksha stayed accessible to those who truly wanted it, without focusing on money.
Bom Bahadur Gharti Chettri was a respected spiritual practitioner. Despite the lack of clear roads or landmarks, sadhus and rishis still traveled long distances to reach our Rudraksha farm in the sacred Nakshatra area of Dingla.
Bom Bahadur Ji welcomed these seekers warmly, offering them Rudraksha with devotion and sending them away happy and blessed. This generous spirit kept the sacred connection between our family and the spiritual community alive.
Third Generation: Challenges and Dream(2015-2002)
As Nepali Rudraksha became more commercialized, Bom Bahadur Ji’s son, Eak Bahadur Gharti Chettri, took on the responsibility of continuing the family legacy. He began providing Rudraksha to Indian buyers and eventually expanded to serve people worldwide.
However, this time brought new challenges, as fake Rudraksha beads flooded the market. This saddened Eak Bahadur Ji deeply, especially when people shared stories of being cheated and losing large amounts of money on counterfeit beads.
Although Eak Bahadur Ji wanted to set up an online platform to make it easier for people to get genuine Rudraksha, he couldn’t accomplish this due to limited resources and technology. This dream, however, began to take shape with the interest and efforts of the fourth generation.
Fourth Generation: Global Reach with Rakshan Gharti Chettri (2002- Present)
With a rich history of serving devotees around the world, Rudraksha has always been a part of their family’s life. Among many memorable stories, there is one where Late Shree Bom Bahadur Ji once sold an Indra Mala for just Rs 200-250, which today is worth nearly 2 crore.
Though born in a new generation, Mr. Rakshan Jung Gharti Chettri initially had little interest in Rudraksha. However, the family’s cultural values and spirituality eventually drew him into the Rudraksha tradition, with the grace of Mahadev guiding his path.
Continuing his father’s long-held dream, he created an online platform, Everest Beads to provide Genuine Rudraksha beads to devotees worldwide. Through this platform, Everest Beads continued the family's legacy, ensuring that authentic Rudraksha is available to those who seek its power.
